Critters of the Swallow's Nest
Dogs...and then there were 4!

New this summer...
we added Trusty... Kats trusty companion and chore dog....
he is a
purebred English shepherd male. He is really starting to take shape here on
the farm and learning his job
with the goats and Kat and the horses. Plus he has actually becoming Hattie's
little companion too.
He is a good old fashioned farm dog!

OkieNapi.... or
Napi fro short... is Monte's new addition a purebred border collie female...
she is a slick coat
and really starting to get smart about the critters. She is currently in training
to be a herding dog and will start
on sheep this coming spring... So we may have some sheep additions this spring
also! stay tuned!

Seamus- 8 Year old border collie... Monte's right hand man... He is the mentor for Napi and he is actually enjoying it!

sporting his cool summer haircut...

Baza...8 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback... Gopher hunter... and couch potato... but always ready for a long walk!

Horses...and a pony

Duelly (4 year
old purebred shire gelding) is currently being taught to carry a rider. He
also helped this spring harrowing the field with Kaesi.......
He did a smash up job! and we are eager to get him going single in the cart!
We will see what the winter holds for him as far as training.

Odo the mini shetland
cross pony... is being directed by miss Hattie on how to
pose for a photo.... He is the model for Stacy hoffman's pony head mold. Cant
think of
anyone cuter!! He is 15 this year and doesn't look a day over 10! and well
still acts like a teeny bopper. He got to
teach Hattie to ride a bit this year on lead line and is doing very well.

Kaesi the 10 year
old belgian. What can I say but she is Kat's everything horse.
Training Duelly to pull and just being a constant companion of Kats forever!

Goats...and expecting to grow this spring

Zia... Kats first
purebred nubian Doe... she will be one this winter... and is bred for march
kids!
Shown at two fairs this year and placed fourth in her large class at the Spokane
interstate fair

Wylin... our second
purebred nubian and my first milker... enjoyed learning to
milk this year with her and she is bred for Mar kids this coming spring.

Jingles our christmas baby( 1/4 alpine 3/4 oberhasli)... he is growing like a weed and is ready to do some packing or cart training.

Jingles in the red collar... BO in the yellow collar... Bo is 3 mos younger than Jingles and is the same size already..

Bo is quiet and gentle and a great hiking buddy.
Banty Chickens
This year I added a new rooster... a Belgian antwerp quail named Cookie...

and also a trio of seramas... the worlds smallest breed of chicken...

Rudy the rooster
gave me nice chicks but sadly passed away this fall. I still have the two
hens now in the main pen
with Cookie and am looking for some fabulous crosses this next spring We also
hatched our
5 serama chicks that are purebreds... and one is a roo........ so we may keep
him too. He is spotted like the middle photo above ... like his mom.
all total we have 14 bantys here on the farm.
thats it do far but look out this spring when the babies arrive!!
